Where to Stay in Holbox on a Budget

Isla Holbox is a long island, but only the town of Holbox and its surroundings are inhabited. The area where most people stay is small and very walkable. Staying central puts you within easy walking distance of restaurants, bars, and nightlife. If you’re on a budget, you’ll want to walk most everywhere anyway. You also don’t need to stay right next to the ferry, since it’s just a short stroll from downtown.

If you’re at a more resort-style place, being a bit further out is fine, especially if you don’t plan to come into town for every meal. Backpackers or anyone carrying luggage will likely prefer a central spot for convenience. When we arrived, we walked straight off the ferry to our accommodation and didn’t need to use any vehicle transportation the entirety of our stay on the island.
